Perhaps the worst thing about suffering through this Grand Valley inversion is having to scrape your car windows and get your car warmed up in the morning. The problem is that most of us who are good, law-abiding citizens that  have to do that are breaking the law.Perhaps you got a card like the one pictured from lockdownyourcar.org. It encourages us to 'warm up with your car instead of leaving it running.' The idea behind the movement - and the law against "puffing" is to reduce the number of vehicle thefts in the state of Colorado.

The card tells us that a stolen car is often the gateway to other, more dangerous crimes. The implication is that by warming up your car in the morning - while you remain in the warm indoors - you are contributing to the delinquency of society.

Now I understand the thinking behind this whole 'puffing' thing, but we should not cast aside all common sense. Who among us wants to sit in their car for 10 or 15 minutes when it is 2 degrees outside and wait for it to warm up? That seems absurd. But, yet, if you don't do that, you could get ticketed and face a fine. Are you willing to take that risk? I am!
