Taking down the Christmas tree can be a bit of a bummer. Feel better by recycling it.

Grand Junction residents can recycle your used Christmas trees at the Mesa County Organic Materials Composting Facility. They're located at 3071 Highway 50 in Orchard Mesa. Over the next couple weeks, you can drop off your old tree on Tuesday through Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Of course, they'll be closed on Tuesday, January 1st, New Year's Day. For more info call (970) 263-9319.

In Delta, the Solid Waste Management Authority will recycle your Christmas tree now through January 26th on Monday through Wednesdays from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and on Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 12 PM. They will pick up your tree if you call or email a request. For more info call 906-786-9056 or shoot them a note at dswma1@hughes.net.

Over in Montrose, for most of January, the City of Montrose will pick up trees placed curbside for recycling. However, you'll need to call and schedule to have your tree picked up at 240-1480. If you're interested in their tree mulch, it's available for free to the public.

A friendly reminder, make sure to remove all the Christmas lights, wires, hooks, string, and ornaments from the tree. If you're hauling your tree in a bag, be sure and remove the tree from the bag before dropping it off. Please don't try and slip in your old stand, holiday decorations, and no, they won't accept your old artificial tree.
