[Original Information] The Grand Junction Police Department received a call around 9:10 am Wednesday (Sept. 16) morning from the parents of the 13-year-old suspect stating that he had stolen their car in the 2400 block of Bunting Ave.

Officers responding to the call spotted the boy driving the car around the neighborhood, but he refused to stop.

The boy eventually returned to his parents house, where he parked the car out front and began revving the engine at one of the officers.

Officers on scene punctured the cars tires, while a school resource officer talked to the teen through the window.

The teen took off at a high rate of speed striking one of the police cruisers. He drove less than a block before the vehicle stopped.

Officers surrounded the car, telling the teen to leave the vehicle. The teen refused, fleeing again, striking two more cop cars and drove over an officers leg while trying to leave the area.

An officer used his taser through the window of the car, and took the teen into custody.

The officer who was run over was taken to the hospital by ambulance, but his injuries are non-life threatening. The boy was also taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Charges against the boy are pending the outcome of the continuing investigation.
