Students at Grand Junction's Tope Elementary are working hard to raise funds to plant a new tree in the schoolyard. The kids are missing a tree which had to be removed, and are working towards replacing it with a new Mulberry tree.

Last year, a large tree in the school's yard had to be cut down due to disease. The kids are really missing it. Students are attempting to raise $300 to purchase a new 30 to 50 foot tall fruitless Mulberry.

Student council members have placed a drawing of a tree inside the school. They are continuing to color in the tree as funds get closer to the goal. At present (February 23) they are a little over a third of the way there.

Kudos to the students at Tope Elementary. It warms the heart to see school pride such as this. Perhaps you can help them achieve their goal.
