Grand Junction Police is investigating an incident in which two separate explosive devices detonated at the Salvation Army building at 1235 North 4th Street in Grand Junction.

Just before 8:00 p.m. Thursday, 9-1-1 dispatch received calls from people reporting a loud boom in the area of Sherwood Park. Officers searched the area, but did not immediately find where the sound came from.

Just after 8:30 p.m., a second explosion was heard in the area, and a nearby officer spotted a flash and smoke at the Salvation Army building.

Upon responding to the building, fire fighters and officers found that someone had placed two separate devices near two downspouts on the building. The explosions caused minor damage to the downspouts, pulling them away from the building. No one was injured.

The Grand Junction Bomb Squad was also on the scene and collected evidence. Investigators are working to determine the kind of explosives that were used, and a search of the area did not produce any additional devices.

Grand Junction Police are asking anyone with information on this incident to call 970-242-6707.
