When it comes to quality of life, Grand Junction rates high among the small cities in Colorado.

According to online financial resource WalletHub, Grand Junction was ranked 126th nationally and fifth in Colorado as one of the best small cities to live in.

The WalletHub survey looked at several different factors including housing costs, home ownership, crime rates, income growth, the number of residents with health insurance coverage and amenities including restaurants and coffee shops per capita.

Based on the WalletHub survey, the Denver Business Journal listed these as the top 10 small Colorado cities in Colorado.

  1. Littleton
  2. Parker
  3. Lafayette
  4. Broomfield
  5. Grand Junction
  6. Englewood
  7. Castle Rock
  8. Longmont
  9. Wheatridge
  10. Pueblo West

Of the top 10 best small Colorado cities, Grand Junction was the only one west of the continental divide to make the list.

Not that other towns didn't also deserve some recognition, but Grand Junction was the only western slope community to meet the Wallethub criteria. Still, with all the competition from the front range, this a significant honor for the Grand Junction area.
