The Grand Junction Police Department is investigating and early-morning armed robbery at the KFC on North Ave.

Around 8:30 am Friday, Jan. 30, a male individual entered the KFC restaurant on North Avenue, threatened an employee with a gun, took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled out the back door of the restaurant.

The suspect was on foot and headed south. The suspect is described as a white male, medium to skinny build, wearing a light green coat and carrying an orange backpack.

As a precaution, the GJPD notified staff at CMU and put nearby schools and daycare centers into Shelter in Place while they conduct the investigation.

More details will be available as they are released.
