The Grand Junction High School Academic Team has been unstoppable this year bringing home multiple awards from academic competitions. The team just added another win to continue the streak.

The team recently competed in the 'Matchwits' Colorado high school academic quiz competition and claimed their eighth win. Almost 50 high schools participated in the 32nd annual competition that begins with an online competition.

The top 16 schools then battle in a single elimination tournament which was in Pueblo last week. The final showdown was between GJHS and Windsor, both formidable teams. It was close, but by Sunday night Grand Junction had won.

The Matchwits championship trophy presentation will be at the Grand Junction High School auditorium Friday (April 28) at 9:30 a.m. The presentation is open to the community.

Matchwits is a Jeopardy style competition held by Rocky Mountain PBS. The championship match can be viewed on the RMPBS website. Entry deadline for the 33rd annual competition is May 5.
