A Grand Junction food delivery service is making eating out easier than ever and making it possible for you to eat out in the comfort of your own home.

Home delivery used to just be for pizza and mail, but in our ever-changing world, we have delivery of everything from groceries and medical supplies to pet care needs, and now, food from our favorite restaurant. Food Dudes is the second restaurant service to start operating in Grand Junction.

For as little as $4.99, your dinner out will be picked up and delivered right to your door. The delivery charge depends on how far you are from the restaurant. When you sign up, you can see what the delivery charge is for each restaurant and the approximate time it should take to get your food.

Here's how it works. You go to the Food Dudes website where they have a list of restaurants. Click on the restaurant you want, look at the menu, and place your order.  Food Dudes does the rest. They also take phone orders, and there is an app for Android phones.

At this time the list of participating restaurants looks like this.

  • McAlister's
  • Famous Dave's
  • Great Harvest
  • Nick's Surf Shack
  • Boston's
  • Bravo Pizza
  • Chili's
  • Enzo's
  • Enzo's Pizza Shack
  • Fiesta Guadalajara
  • Ghengis Grill
  • Mi Mexico
  • Nick n Willy's
  • Zen Garden
  • OMG Foods

According to the owner, A.J. Hansen, Food Dudes has been operating for two years and they are working on adding more restaurants and hoping to open a gift shop. They also have a location in Montrose.

The way I see it, if you are eating out you're going to be paying a tip with your meal anyway, so paying a delivery charge really isn't a big deal. Besides, it's all about convenience. No traffic, no gas, no waiting outside a restaurant to get in- and, the best part is it's perfectly acceptable to kick off your shoes.
