Grand Junction Fire Department Wins Battle for Blood Donations

The Heroes Behind the Badges Blood Drive is over and the Grand Junction Fire Department wins the battle for blood donations.

The real winners are those who will need blood from St. Mary's Regional Blood Center. Area fire and police departments and others in the community who donated during the friendly competition added much-needed units of blood to the depleted supply at the Blood Center.

The Grand Junction Fire Department had 214 units of blood donated and will get a trophy and a cash donation to the charity of their choice, Delaney Donates.

The Grand Junction Police Department also had great support with 166 units of blood donated on their behalf.

Although the 'blood competition' between the police and fire department is over, the Regional Blood Center is constantly in need of blood donations to keep up with the demand. Donate during walk-in hours Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and Saturday 7:00 a.m.-Noon.
