Grand Junction Downtown Tree Lighting a Big Hit [Photos)

The Tree Lighting in downtown Grand Junction may have seemed to be extremely early - in relation to Thanksgiving - but don't tell that to the hundreds of folks who showed up to enjoy a fantastic show by the Tonettes, and watch Santa light the tree.

The downtown tree lighting is an event that KOOL 107.9 has been involved with for many years now, and it has grown into quite a large event. There is a lot of time and preparation that goes into this event by a lot of people.

Again this year, the Grand Junction Fire Department was on hand to help get Santa off the roof. We keep "threatening" to send Santa down off the roof of Wells Fargo Bank on a zip-line, but we are extremely grateful (as is Santa) to the GJFD for bringing out their big truck.

The Tonettes put on a fun Christmas show that delighted the crowd - kids and adults as well.

Finally, Santa emerges on the roof of the bank, and makes his way down to the grand assisted by the GJFD.

The kids get to visit with Santa and enjoy some yummy treats thanks to Santa's elf helper.

The tree looks great, and the holiday shopping season in downtown Grand Junction is officially underway. We had a fabulous time!
