Is the city of Grand Junction closer to getting a community center?

Well, in one regard, the answer is definitely yes, but the question of whether or not Grand Junction actually gets a new community center remains to be answered.

The Grand Junction Parks and Recreation Department has been working together with PLACE (People For Local Activities and Community Enrichment) to determine the feasibility of getting a community center in Grand Junction.

The process so far has included a number of public meetings as well as surveys to measure community interest and support.  A final community meeting is scheduled for July 16 to present survey results to the city council as well as a conceptual design and operational estimates. The workshop will take place at the city hall auditorium beginning at 5:30pm.

If you can't make it to the July 16th meeting, you have another chance to see the results of the study on July 17 at 11:30am at city hall. You can always get the latest information from the GJ Community Center booth at the farmers market in downtown Grand Junction.

It feels like we should know soon whether or not Grand Junction's community center becomes reality.
