June is Colorado Bike month and it is a great reason to hop on a bike and commute to work or ride around for fun and fitness.

Colorado Bike Month also includes Bike to Work Day on June 22. So, even if you don't normally use a bicycle to get to work, this is a great day to do so.

Healthy Mesa County has a number of challenges designed to encourage people in the Grand Junction area to spend more time bicycling in June.

The business who has the highest percentage of employees bicycling  to work will get a traveling trophy.

Individuals can log the total number of miles ridden during the month and compete with other riders around the valley for the most miles ridden. The weeks to log miles include May 29 through June 4, June 5 through June 11, June 12 through June 18.

Kids seen by Grand Junction Police Officers riding safely and wearing a helmet can earn an ice cream certificate.

Businesses, groups and organizations are encouraged to have their own bicycle events and challenges throughout June to celebrate Colorado Bike Month.
