A man is dead following an accident where he crashed the motorcycle he was riding on into the passenger side of a car in southeast Grand Junction.

The Grand Junction Police Department reports on Monday night (June 4) around 8 p.m. witnesses to the accident said a car traveling east on D Road slowed and was beginning to turn south on to 29 1/4 Road when the motorcycle appeared to have approached on the right and crashed into the passenger side of the car.

The man who was riding the motorcycle received life-threatening injuries in the accident and later died at the hospital. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The female driver of the car was not injured in the crash. The name of the motorcyclist has not been released pending notification of relatives.

Grand Junction Police say this is an active investigation as they are continuing to determine exactly what circumstances led to the crash. Anyone who witnessed the crash, that has not already spoken to police, is asked to contact the Grand Junction Police Department at 970-242-6707.
