Sophia Feghali, a Holy Family seventh grade student, submitted her story “Stinky Bleu and the Case of the Death Cheese Formula” which won first place in her grade category.

Feghali, Thompson, and Wrich are the only students from Western Colorado to place in this year’s competition.

Holy Family School language arts teacher Sidney Wood says,

We at Holy Family are tremendously proud of our young writers and their success in the RMPBS StoryMakers competition.”

This is the 10th year RMPBS has held the competition. Stories submitted for the contest must be original single authored stories between 700 and 1,000 words in length.

The stories are judged on originality, creative expression, and storytelling. Eight finalists are selected for each grade category and prizes are awarded to the top three finishers.

Rocky Mountain PBS is planning to publish the stories on their website soon so everyone will be able to enjoy the fictional works of these inspiring young authors.
