Grand Junction got quite a few inches of snow last night and from the photo above you can see it was still snowing early this morning. Many roads around the area are snow- packed with ice underneath due to the rain last night prior to the snow. Extreme caution is recommended if you are driving this morning. Expect slow moving traffic and possible delays.

9:00am - Westbound lanes of F Road at 29 Road have been reopened. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution as icy conditions still exist.

8:45am - Grand Junction Police have Closed Westbound Lanes of F Road at 29 Road  due to hazardous conditions and possible accidents. Lanes will reopen as soon as conditions permit.

8:30 am - Grand Valley Transit is running a delayed schedule this morning but expect to have normal route operation by 9am. Additional schedule delays are possible depending on road conditions.

According to the alerts this morning, due to snow and icy conditions ALL School District 51 schools are CLOSED today (12/4). Other School Closures include:

  • Plateau Valley
  • Holy Family
  • IntelliTec College
  • Caprock Academy
  • Aspen School District
  • All Christian Community Schools
  • All Garfield County Schools
  • Heaven's Little Steps Day Care
  • Life Academy
  • DeBeque School District
  • Roaring Fork School District
  • Juniper Ridge
  • All Aspen Schools

All Mesa County Libraries will be closed today.

Colorado Mesa University is in session today.

Grand Junction is also under accident alert status which means:

If you are involved in a non-injury crash that does not involve suspected drunk drivers or require towing service, you need to exchange driver, vehicle & insurance  information, then make a report within 48 hours by either contacting the Grand Junction Police Department or by calling 242-6707.

According to the AP:

A large winter storm and arctic front moving into Colorado is bringing snow to parts of the mountains and causing temperatures to plummet. Up to 9 inches of snow is forecast for Denver by this afternoon.
