Are you ready for live music? How does the price of "free" suit you? Grab your lawn chair and set a course for downtown Fruita. The 2018 Free Summer Concert Series is underway.

These free concerts run all summer long at Fruita's Civic Center Park. Downbeat is 7:30 sharp. What do you have to do to attend? Not much. Basically, grab a lawn chair or blanket, sunscreen, and have fun.

What kind of music will you hear? Well, that depends on what week it is. Tonight, Western Colorado favorites Lever Action will perform. It would be very safe to list them as a Country band. Yes, they play some Rock, but these really are some good ol' boys, and they do love their Country.

The Frank Bregar Orchestra will perform in a few weeks. I've known this group for 30 years. It's a 14-piece Big Band playing standards from artists such as Count Basie and Glenn Miller.

Let's check out the 2018 schedule:

  • June 21 - Lever Action
  • June 28 - The Grand Junction Centennial Band
  • July 5 - The Frank Bregar Orchestra
  • July 12 - Peach Street Revival
  • July 19 - Stray Grass
  • July 26 - Soul Habit
  • August 2 - Timber
  • August 9 - The Williams Brothers Band

All shows are open to all ages. The offer of "free" doesn't roll around very often so why not pounce on this opportunity. Round up the whole bunch and make plans to attend.
