As the lights came up at Stocker Stadium this Friday Night (September 15) it was a great night for high school football where the Fruita Monument Wildcats hosted the Eaglecrest Raptors from Centennial, CO in a non-conference game.

The Wildcats started off hot, returning the opening kick-off 92 yards for the first score of the game just 14 seconds into the game. That was the end of the highlights for the Wildcats as the Raptors were in control for the rest of the game. The Raptors came out on top by the final score of 55 to 28 dropping the Wildcats to 1 and 3 for the season.

The Grand Junction Tigers were on the road this weekend, traveling to Arvada, CO for a non-conference game against the Ralston Valley Mustangs. It was a back and forth game as the teams traded the lead throughout the night, but the  final lead change came to the Mustangs on a field goal with less than a minute to go in the third. The Tigers were unable to regain the lead in the fourth quarter and the Mustangs put the game away for good in the fourth with the final touchdown, breaking a 3 game win streak for the Tigers.

The Central Warriors had Friday night off, and traveled Saturday down the road to Denver to play the D'Evelyn Jaguars. The Warriors did not fare well and remain winless, losing to D'Evelyn by the score of 38 to 29.

The Palisade Bulldogs were also at home this weekend, really at home, playing on the field in Palisade. The Bulldogs were hosting the four corners area Montezuma-Cortez Panthers. The Panthers finally hit the scoreboard in the third quarter for their only score of the game. The Bulldogs however scored every quarter and often, winning 63 to 7.

Just down highway 50, the Montrose Indians were hosts to the Cyclones from Pueblo-West. It was a tough night for the Indians and the final score was determined by who could score on the extra points. It turned out the the Cyclones were better at that and they took the victory by the score of 20 to 19.

The Delta Panthers were also at home this weekend, and took the field against the Eagle Valley Devils of Gypsum in a conference game.  The Panthers came out on top, 25 to 21 and improved their record to 2-1.
