Friday (June 22) is Take Your Dog to Work Day. It's a great way for your four-legged friend to find out what you do when you're not spending time with them.

Take Your Dog to Work Day is celebrated each year on the first Friday after Father's Day. The event was started in 1999 by Pet Sitters International, who provide information and educational materials for professional pet sitters and dog walkers.

The event is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Take Your Dog to Work Day is designed to "celebrate the great companions dogs make and to promote their adoption."

The entire week (June 18-22) is Take Your Pets to Work Week with special days set aside for cat owners and all other pets people have.

One of the great things about Take Your Dog to Work Day is it encourages employers to invite employees to bring their dogs to work for a day of fun while showing support for the local pet community.

For some, they get the joy of bringing pets to work every day so plan  something special at work for you and your dog on Friday.

If you don't normally have dogs in your workplace, make sure to get permission from your employer before doing so. If they say yes, then don't forget to bring the things your dog needs to be comfortable and happy while at work with you even if it's only for part of the day.

If it isn't practical or possible to bring your dog (or dogs) to work, then get everyone to print a bunch of pictures of their dogs and post them around your workplace to celebrate.
