There are a lot of things that can put us in a bad mood - a boss, a spouse, the kids, a dog--but there are some other things that can put us in a bad mood and we don't even realize it.

We all have times when we are in a bad mood. Then there are people who are just plain moody. There is a difference. Moody people tend to change their demeanor and attitude at the drop of a hat, often times for no particular reason. Being in a bad mood generally has a particular trigger.

Huffington Post shared some reasons why we might be in a bad mood - and it's likely you never realized the connection.

1) Not getting enough sunlight - There is evidence that lack of sunlight can lead to depression. If you are cooped up in an office all day long it's probably a good idea to find at least 15 minutes in the day to get outside and take a walk.

2) Not drinking enough water - Just being a little dehydrated can lead to fatigue, loss of focus, and a bad mood. The recommendation is 3.7 liters of water for men, and 2.7 each day for women. And the good news is, things like coffee and juice do count.

3)You're working too much -  A study conducted at Kansas State University showed that people who work 50 hours a week or more experience reduced mental and physical well-being. This due partly to the fact that these people tend to skip meals, but they also are missing out on adequate family time, as well as fun time just for themselves.

4)You are tired - This can be connected to your sleeping habits as well as your eating habits. Not getting enough sleep will make you feel tired - and consequently more irritable. Not eating right can have the same affect. If you are running on a short fuse, chances are you are lacking adequate rest.
