An internationally respected violinist will drop in on Grand Junction this Easter for a free concert. Set aside Sunday afternoon, April 1, and bring the entire family out for this awesome performance.

Former Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra concertmaster Carlos Elias will return to town for a performance with the Messiah Choral Society of Grand Junction. Elias has performed with this ensemble numerous times over the years.

According to the Messiah Choral Society's official web page -

The Messiah Choral Society of Grand Junction was founded in August of 2004 to present an annual performance of Handel's classic oratorio, Messiah. The concert is offered each Easter Sunday as a musical gift to the Grand Valley community by the members of the Messiah Choral Society and its donors. Admission to the concert is free of charge. This year's concert will be performed at the Grand Junction High School Auditorium. - mcsgj.org

Carlos Elias had served as the Orchestra director at Colorado Mesa University. He left that position to pursue an opportunity at another university.

This free concert is Sunday, April 1, at the Grand Junction High School auditorium. Doors open at 1:45 p.m. Downbeat is at 2:30 p.m. Scott Betts returns this year to conduct the concert.

Welcome Carlos and his family back to Grand Junction. This really is an amazing concert, reflecting thousands of hours of work and dedication. Music begins late enough for you to enjoy Easter morning and ends early enough for you to have dinner with your family.
