Forget ‘Skyfall’ – 5 Reason Why ‘For Your Eyes Only’ Was Best Bond Movie Ever – Vote For Your Favorite
There's been a ton of fuss about "Skyfall" and why it's the best Bond movie ever. I respectfully disagree. Check out my five reasons why "For Your Eyes Only" is the best Bond film of all time.
In no way whatsoever would I ever imply "Skyfall" wasn't great. It was. The Oscar wins were well deserved. "Casino Royale" was magnificent as well. However, 1981's "For Your Eyes Only" has a list of merits, the likes of which we can only begin to touch on, which sets it apart from the rest.
"For Your Eyes Only" was set very much in the world of the plausible. This was very refreshing following the disgraceful "Moonraker" which took Bond from from the status of hero to that of buffoon.
Carole Bouquet was the most stunning Bond girl of all time. Yes, many have been gorgeous. Bouquet, however, stands alone as a mesmerizing, although not necessarily happy, Bond girl.
We saw a darker side of bond. A little less laser-cannon-belt-buckle-thruster pack and a little more bond-kicking-bad-guy-off-ledge.
Best Bond theme ever. Yes, a Bond theme written by the same guy who composed the score to "Rocky" (Bill Conti) and performed perfectly by Sheena Easton.
It was the first film in the franchise I became familiar with. I was 11 when it came out. Bond was known to me, but this made for an excellent introduction to the character and the series.
