I've been feeling a bit blue lately about turning 50 today, and so I went in search of some songs that are 50 years old to make me feel better and to remind myself that being 50 isn't all bad. Of course, I didn't get to enjoy all those great songs from 1963  until many years later, but now it's pretty cool to share the big 5-0 with these classics.

These songs have three three things in common; 1) They are all on Billboard's year-End Hot 100 Singles of 1963 chart; 2) They get better with age and remain among my favorite songs of all time;3) They all turn 50 this year, just like me. I guess 50 isn't so bad after all.

1) Jimmy Soul - If You Wanna Be Happy For the Rest of Your Life

2)Cascades - Rhythm of the Falling Rain

3)Johnny Cash - Ring of Fire
