At first glance, it looks like the guy in this picture needs to pull his pants up - but maybe he's simply wearing jeans that are too short.

When I ran across this guy at Mesa Mall the other day, my first thought was, "hmmmm...this guy's wearing gray  underwear." My second thought was, "that's way more information than I need or should know.

So then I began to wonder. Does this guy need to pull his pants up - or is he wearing defective jeans? Maybe they are too short and they won't make it all the way up to his waist? But, then I noticed how the jeans were bunched up between the ankles and the knees. Nope - these jeans definitely aren't too short.

So, what other possible explanation could there be for this wardrobe travesty.

  • Maybe the jeans are around his waist and he's just a guy with an unusually long trunk, and his waist actually sits several inches lower than the average human being.
  • Maybe he got dressed in the dark and accidentally grabbed the wrong pair of jeans and ended up wearing size 34 rather than 24.
  • Maybe he is experiencing numbness in his lower extremities and can't feel his pants hovering half way down his back side and he's completely unaware.
  • Maybe the way he is wearing his jeans is perfectly acceptable and all the rest of us are simply wearing our pants too high.

I'm out of ideas and possible explanations. Perhaps you could come up with one or two. I realize this fad is nothing new, but it never ceases to amaze me.

Larry Platt said it best during his Season 9 American Idol audition. "Pants on the ground, pants on the ground...you're lookin' like a fool with your pants on the ground."
