Road Roller Printmaking

Tuesday, October 21, 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM

OBSERVATION FREE AND OPEN TO PUBLIC

On October 21, the Colorado Mesa Art Department's Annual Open House Event will feature Road Roller Printmaking, in which students from CMU Printmaking, Typography, and Two-Dimensional Design classes and students from Palisade High School's International Baccalaureate Program will use woodcuts in conjunction with road roller machinery to print large images on cotton and paper. The road roller machinery has been generously loaned to the Art Department by Asphalt Specialists & Supply, Inc. of Grand Junction. The woodcuts will include both single-artist and collaborative large images, and smaller woodcuts by different artists may also be combined to form large prints. The cooperative, energetic activity of Road Roller Printmaking is fun for both participants and observers.

There will be an exhibition of the completed road roller prints at the Colorado Mesa University Art Gallery from December 3-January 28, with a First Friday opening reception scheduled for Friday, December 5 from 7:00-9:00 PM. The Art Gallery is located at 437 Colorado Avenue in downtown Grand Junction.

Road Roller Printmaking will take place on the Plaza of the main Colorado Mesa University campus from 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM on Tuesday, October 21, and observation of the process is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Art Department at (970) 248-1833.
