On Friday, September 12th at 7:30 pm, CMU Music Faculty will present an evening of Baroque music composed by Bach and Handel in the Moss Performing Arts Center Recital Hall featuring Kristen Yeon-Ji Yun, cello; Alejandro Gómez Guillén, violin; and Kathleen Ruhleder, mezzo-soprano.
The musicians found that they all love Baroque music, and felt that the public in the Grand Valley have not regularly had an opportunity to hear these masterpieces. Since many people today are not familiar with Baroque style, it can come across as stuffy and boring, unless it is performed extremely well. The group hopes to bring out the joy and drama in these pieces. Selections include:
Bach:
Laudamus te from Mass in B Minor
Erbarme dich from St. Matthew Passion
Et misericordia (duet) from Magnificat
Handel:
But Who May Abide the Day of His Coming from Messiah
Iris, Hence Away from Semele
Par che mi nasca in Segno from Tamerlano
Tickets for the concert are available at the box office by calling 970-248-1604.
