On Thursday, October 16th, CMU's faculty ensemble, Trio Meloso, will perform at 7:30 pm in the Moss Recital Hall. The concert will consist of music for the unusual combination of flute, oboe, and guitar and will feature Jane Kuenzel, Mary Lindsey Bailey and Javier de los Santos. Since the combo is not standard, most of the music performed will be by new composers, mostly Neo-romantic in style. A few works by Cuban and Spanish composers that feature the dance styles of those countries will also be presented.
The concert is partially a fundraiser for Bailey and de los Santos to travel to Rio de Janeiro in November for the RioWinds Festival (also called the Festival Internacional de Sopros), hosted by the Música no Museu (Music in the Museums) organization. They will perform recitals for oboe and guitar in museums in Rio and are working to arrange a master class at the Conservatório Brasileiro de Música in Rio.
