It seems early for the annual tree lighting, but the fact is, November 15th really isn't all that early. The deal is that Thanksgiving is happening so late this year, on the 28th. The tree lighting in mid-November  typically takes place the week before Thanksgiving. This year it's nearly two weeks before Turkey Day.

The Tree Lighting takes place at Wells Fargo Bank at the corner of Fourth and Main in Downtown Grand Junction.

KOOL 107.9 will begin broadcasting live at 4:00 and LIVE musical entertainment begins at 5:00 with the Tonettes. The Tonettes is an all-girl 1940s-inspired vocal jazz quartet that has delighted Grand Valley audiences for the last five years. You can check them out on their website.

Santa is scheduled to arrive at about 5:45 to light the tree and then visit with children and give treats to all of the good little girls and boys.

Dos Rios Elementary School will be on hand selling hot beverages and goodies.
