When I heard Eagles' bassist Timothy B. Schmit was diagnosed with throat and neck cancer last fall, I worried about how the band could adjust without his amazing vocals. Schmit underwent surgery in November and recently gave an update on his condition. On his official website, Schmit wished his fans 'A Happy (and Healthy) New Year' and says, "Although my issues were disheartening, and I went through what the doctors called 'major surgery,' the truth is I was only bedridden during my three night stay in the hospital."

Schmit indicated he has received a "clean bill of health" and his voice is coming along nicely and he was glad he was able to participate in the Eagles concert in Las Vegas the end of 2012.

As for his plans for 2013, he's working on a new solo album and hinted at some more Eagles appearances, likely as part of the band's soon to be revealed 40th anniversary tour. He also says he will be promoting the new "History of the Eagles, Part One" documentary that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Both parts of the documentary will air on Showtime in February, with Part 1 on February 15th and Part 2 on February 16th.
