The holiday season will kick into full swing this week with the  downtown Grand Junction Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday.

Each year hundreds of people gather at Wells Fargo Bank at 4th and Main for the lighting of the tree and the arrival of Santa, who traditionally arrives in rather dramatic fashion to light the tree.

This year's pre-lighting entertainment is going to be outstanding, with talented local singer/songwriter Shea Bramer providing the sounds of the season beginning at 5:30.

The actual lighting of the tree will take place shortly after 6 p.m., at which time ALL of the lights in downtown Grand Junction will also magically come on to mark the start of the season.

Following the lighting of the tree, assuming Santa makes it down off the roof safely, he will visit with the children one-on-one in front of the tree. Be sure and have your camera ready to capture a memorable moment of your child with Santa.

You will find plenty of free parking, and it will be a great evening for a stroll down main street, maybe do some shopping, enjoy one of the restaurants, and soak in the sights and sounds of the season.

Of course, as always, KOOL 107.9 will be on location broadcasting LIVE, and facilitating the proceedings. We'd love for you to join us for this great holiday event!
