The disc golf craze that has been sweeping the nation has made its way into Delta County with the opening of a brand new course.

The Delta County Independent reports the course opened on October 1 on the south side of the Delta County Fairgrounds in Hotchkiss.

The course, which has been in the planning stages for about a year was paid for by money from the Colorado Lottery. Other projects are expected to be coming in the future, including the construction of six horseshoe pits, which should be completed by next spring.

Meanwhile, the popularity of disc golf nationwide continues to grow, and the Western Slope is seeing its share of courses popping up.
