Death is reportedly approaching for Kara Tippets, the woman  who wrote an open letter to Brittany Maynard, who took her own life on November 1st.

According to a story from The Washington Post, Kara Tippets, the wife of a Colorado Springs pastor is nearing her own death, two years after being diagnosed with terminal breast cancer. It's a heart breaking story, as the 38-year-old leaves behind a husband and four children.

It was Tippets, who, in an open letter, tried to convince Maynard to let her brain cancer run it's course, rather than take her own life with the assistance of a physician. Maynard became a spokesperson for the Right to Die/ Die With Dignity movement.

Earlier this year, the Colorado legislature rejected right-to-die legislation that would have allowed dying patients the opportunity to have a physician assist them in ending their lives.

This issue remains very divisive, volatile, and extremely personal. Still, only five state allow physician-assisted suicide. The bottom line is this. American have a right to die -they just don't have the right to have help doing it. What are your thoughts?

UPDATE: The Washington Post reports Kara Tippets has died at the age of 38.
