Police departments around the country often use some sort of the phrase 'to protect and to serve.' This officer proved just what that means by taking some time after a traffic stop to toss a football with a boy who needed someone to play catch with.

Sgt. Ariel Soltura spotted the boy tossing the ball in the air and catching it and decided it might be more fun if the boy had someone to play pass and catch with.

The Huffington Post reports the Rosenberg, Texas Police Department posted this statement about the officer's actions,

"While a 2 minute game of football might not mean anything, to some it could mean everything!"

Sgt. Soltura said he would have stayed and played longer but he didn't want to seem too intrusive. He also believes actions like these make police officers appear more human and ultimately more approachable.

Recently, the Grand Junction Police Department hosted one of it's Bowling with Cops events proving Texas isn't the only community with caring cops.
