Getting kids to eat right nowadays is one of the challenges parents face, and mom and dad may be leaning on these four age-old myths to try and get their children to eat properly.

According to the Daily Mail, a recent study indicates that many parents are telling their kids crazy things to get them to eat. In fact, in many cases they are just passing along myths that were told to them by their parents.

1) Eating the crust of the bread will give you curly hair

2) Drinking milk will make you strong

3)Eating carrots will help you see in the dark

4)Popeye is real - and eating spinach will give you muscles

Yes, I've heard it all before, but at our house these tall-tales just weren't necessary. When it came to dinner time, there was one rule. Eat everything on your plate. There was no debate and no discussion, even though I was a so-called finicky eater. There were times when everyone else had left the table while I sat alone at the table staring at the small glob of broccoli sitting on my plate. Eventually, I would wash it down, feeling like I would rather be eating thumb tacks or cockle burs.

But, times have changed, and somehow parenting seems more difficult than it used to be and there are more challenges than ever when it comes to raising kids - and trying to instill good eating habits is one of them.
