We learned a few days ago that 85% of Americans have a cell phone. About 1 in 2 have a smart phone. Today we learn what 67 % of cell phone users do--although we are all probably "guilty" of this to a certain degree.

The answer is checking for messages even though the phone isn't ringing,  beeping, or buzzing. We seem to be  extremely paranoid about missing a call or a text message. Mostly out of habit, we constantly check our phones without even consciously thinking about it. Here's something for you to try. Take ONE hour of the day, and see if you can go the entire hour without checking your phone. How many of us can do it?
