This year's Super Bowl halftime show seemed to go off without a hitch and without controversy. Now we are discovering that isn't the case, as it's been made public that the FCC has received complaints for, among other things, nipple exposure.

According to Deadspin, one person said "I found it indecent that I had to see their nipples. Both men and women should have to wear shirts."

Another complaint asked, "How is it okay for male performers to perform shirtless showing both nipples, yet you sanction nipple-showing by Janet Jackson?  That's sexism."

There were also complaints about the sexual lyrical content of the songs, and a few people complained to the FCC because their cable went out during the Super Bowl.

It seems the complaints have some credence. Why is it okay for men to be out in public and on TV without a shirt, but it's not okay for women? I have long been bothered by the idea of driving down the street and seeing some guy walking down the sidewalk shirtless. Call me prude, but I don't even like seeing guys topless at the swimming pool. Why in the world would I want to see another guy's nipples?

It's doubtful that anything will come of these complaints to the FCC because there doesn't seem to be any precedent for a topless man falling under the umbrella of indecent exposure. But, if somebody wants to launch a campaign to make it illegal for men to be shirtless in public, I'll be right behind them - with my shirt on!
