When you buy gasoline in Colorado, you probably don't think about how accurate the pump is. Luckily, there are people who do, so you're ensured of getting what you paid for.

In an effort to make consumers aware there are standards and safeguards in place to protect them, Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper has issued a proclamation making March 1-7 Declared Weights and Measures Week.

Mahesh Albuquerque, explains how the Division of Oil and Gas protects consumers in Colorado,

Our inspectors verify the calibration of gas pumps and test motor fuel to ensure compliance with fuel quality standards.. Through our work consumers can be confident they are getting what they pay for at the pump, while businesses are assured of an even playing field with their competitors.”

Colorado is also hosting the National Conference on Weights and Measures Annual Meeting in Denver this summer.
