The Colorado Mesa Mavericks women's basketball team looks to remain unbeaten this week as they host two of the better teams in the RMAC.The Mavericks are 12-0 overall and 8-0 and in first place in the conference. Close behind, however, is CSU Pueblo, 7-3 overall, but 7-0 in conference play and winners of seven in a row. UC Colorado Springs, Friday night's opponent is 74 overall and 3-4.

The Mavericks played their closest games of the season this past weekend beating Colorado Christian by two on a buzzer beater by Sharaya Selsor, and then beating Colorado School of Mines by 6.

Two more extremely tough games can be expected this week with UCCS, the pre-season RMAC favorite, and CSU-Pueblo, which somewhat surprisingly is unbeaten in conference play.

Mavs Head Coach Taylor Wagner says he's glad this week's games are on Thursday and Friday. "We're excited to play Pueblo. It should be a good game. They are playing as well as anybody in the RMAC... a very aggressive team and they have five weapons on the floor all the time, so it will be a good battle."

This week's games are on Thursday and Friday due to a wrestling event in Gunnison on Saturday. Women's action begins at 5:15 both days, with the men's game to follow at about 7:30 at Brownson Arena.
