This Memorial Day weekend marks the second ever appearance of Colorado Mesa University in the NCAA Division II National Finals.

After winning the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament and the NCAA South Central Regional Tournament (both tournaments were held at Suplizio Field in Grand Junction), the Mavericks have traveled to Cary, North Carolina to compete for a national championship.

Two of the remaining teams competing in this tournament are familiar to Colorado Mesa – Minnesota State-Mankato and Chico State. Depending on game outcomes on Sunday, the Mavericks may face Minnesota State as early as Tuesday.

CMU’s first opponent is Saint Thomas Aquinas. That game is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Sunday.
