Colorado has begun issuing drivers licenses and identification cards to illegal immigrants and it seems like the entire state is in a stir.

According to ABC News, about 9500 people are signed up for appointments in the next 90 days. Colorado is one of eight states that is allowing this documentation for people in the United States illegally.

Supporters say it will make our roads safer because these people will have a better understanding of traffic laws, and that it will make accurate identification easier when immigrants are involved in accidents or traffic stops.

Others say it sends the wrong message by rewarding illegals with these documents and basically validates their illegal status.

Not only is the issue dividing Colorado, it's stirred up debate across the country as other states are engaged in a similar process.

Will this new law encourage more illegal immigrant activity? Will it draw even more illegals to Colorado? Should we face the fact that it's a losing battle and do what we can to make these individuals productive self-sufficient members of our Colorado society? Should we close the borders of our country and our state to all illegal immigrants?

It's a complicated issue in which there are no easy solutions, but a boat load of opinions. What's yours?
