The Western Colorado Chapter of the American Red Cross is asking for help.

Coloradoans know first-hand the destructive power of wildfires. This year was record-setting and not in a good way. At one time in mid-July, there were 15 fires burning at the same time in Colorado. The current situation in California is dire. In northern California, over 6,000 homes have been destroyed and 31 people have died. This wildfire has been called "the most destructive in California history."

The Colorado chapter of the American Red Cross is sending volunteers to help. There are over 2,000 people in temporary housing and in need of assistance. You can help too.  "Cause of all of the different needs of people who were impacted by the fire, the easiest, and the best way, to help is through that monetary donation. We're really looking for any help and support people can give right now,” says Andrea Carlson, American Red Cross.

It's easy. You can do it right from your phone. Just text “redcross” to 90999 to donate $10.
