The CMU Maverick Basketball Teams ended their regular season play Saturday night at Brownson Arena on the Colorado Mesa University campus in Grand Junction. The regular season ended in usual fashion for the women's team, and on a downfall for the men's team.It was a fantastic season for the #4 nationally ranked Lady Mavericks as they swept both games this weekend this finish 25-1 overall and 21-1 in RMAC play winning the RMAC championship. The Women won Friday night against Adams State in lowest total points scored game of the season 56 to 38. It was the second game in which they won with only 56 points, the other was against University of Colorado at Colorado Springs where the final score was 56-55, which was also their closest victory of the season. The single loss came on February 2nd, when Colorado Christian University upset CMU in Lakewood, CO winning 77-73, ruining the Lady Maverick's perfect season. The Lady Mavs were perfect at home this season, winning all 13 games, and won 10 of 11 games on the road. The women won both games played on a neutral court. The RMAC Women's Shootout Tournament starts Tuesday, March 5th at 7:00 p.m.with the women hosting #8 seed Regis University at home in Brownson Arena. The Ladies are looking to be heading to the NCAA division II regional's starting March 15th, and then on to the National Championship rounds starting March 26th in San Antonio, TX.

The Maverick men's team lost both games this weekend making them the #5 seed in the RMAC Shootout and starting them on the road at #4 seeded CSU-Pueblo on Tuesday, March 5th also at 7:00 p.m. A win either night could have given them the #4 seed and started them at home for the RMAC shootout. However the men fell to Adams State 75-68 on Friday night, and lost the final regular season game against #17 ranked Fort Lewis 69 to 59 at home on Saturday Night. The Maverick Men ended the season with a 17-9 record over all, and 14-8 in RMAC Conference standings. The men only dropped 3 home games this year, and split the road games at six wins and six losses. They also won the one game played on neutral turf.
