The City Market on 24 Road will become a temporary campground this weekend for Salvation Army Food Bank camper, Mike Strasser.

This is the 6th year Strasser has camped out to collect food donations for the Salvation Army Food Bank and has exceeded his poundage goal each year. This year the goal is to raise 20,000 pounds of food. Last year, the community donated over 18,000 pounds of food during Strasser's food drive.

This time of year, the Salvation Army food shelves are nearly empty - and the need is greater than ever. In addition to non-perishable food for the food bank shelves, the Salvation Army is in need of turkeys, chickens, and hams that can be provided to those in need during the holidays.

Strasser will be camped out at the 24 Road City Market from 9 a.m. Friday all the way through Sunday to collect food donations. Mike is truly one of the heroes of the community and we can honor his efforts by making a donation this weekend.

Mike's efforts are to draw attention to the need, but he can't meet the need. It is going to take all of us in the community working together to help feed the hungry  during this food drive.
