National Coffee With a Cop Day is Wednesday, October 3 and the Grand Junction Police Department and Mesa County Sheriff's Office wants you to join them for coffee at two locations.

The idea that led to National Coffee With a Cop Day started in Hawthorne, California in 2011 where police officers would meet with community members at a coffee shop to learn more about each other and share some casual conversation. Within a few years, these coffee talks spread across the country.

That led to an official National Coffee With a Cop Day in 2016 which is celebrated on the first Wednesday in October each year.

Officers from the Grand Junction Police Department invite you to join them for coffee at Starbucks 1350 North Avenue from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.

Deputies from the Mesa County Sheriff's Office invite you to join them for coffee at Starbucks 570 32 Road (32 Road at I-70B) from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Both agencies say there is no agenda and no speeches. They just want to get to know the people they serve. They'd also like you to get to know them, too. It's all about enjoying some casual conversation over a cup of coffee.
