As far as the calendar is concerned, Mothers' Day isn't until Sunday (May 10). But, if your mom loves plants, then Saturday at the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens can be a great way to start the celebration early.

This Saturday (May 9) the Botanical Gardens will be open for the entire family to enjoy. As a bonus, there will be plants for sale you can buy for mom, then help her plant either Saturday or Sunday.

What's great about this event is the plants for sale are well adapted for our Grand Valley climate and soils. So, even if your mom doesn't have the world's greenest thumb, she can still grow some great plants this season.

For moms who are avid gardeners, there will be numerous interesting and unusual plants that will make already great flower beds and gardens even better.

The Western Colorado Botanical Gardens Bloomin' Deals event runs 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. with proceeds benefiting the Botanical Gardens.
