Colin Trevorrow Still Wants You to Go See ‘The Book of Henry,’ Despite ‘Heartbreaking’ Reviews

Colin Trevorrow’s The Book of Henry did not exactly make Jurassic World money in its first week, and the reviews have mostly been a combination of critics wondering how this movie got greenlit, other critics wondering why Trevorrow chose this for his follow-up to the highest-grossing film ever made, and the rest wondering if they’d accidentally ingested some form of edibles before their screening. There’s no getting around the fact that it’s a pretty terrible movie, so bad that many are still wondering how long Trevorrow will remain director of the final Star Wars Episode.

Rumor Has It Daniel Day-Lewis Quit Acting to Become a Dressmaker

Daniel Day-Lewis is primarily known for his method acting: it can take him years to fully prepare for a role, and he’s the kind of actor who really likes to immerse himself in the material. Remember when he had the Lincoln cast and crew and Steven Spielberg calling him Mr. President? Up until now, he’s never gone so method that he can’t get back out again, but if the rumors are true, his latest role might have inspired a career change.

‘Despicable Me 3’ Review: There’s Little Twin Magic in Gru’s Latest Adventure

Can someone explain to me why Gru, a man with no neck, wears a scarf? Is it a fashion statement? Do supervillains even care about fashion? I don’t get it.

Ben Affleck’s ‘The Accountant’ Is Getting a Sequel

I kind of liked The Accountant. It was goofy, sure, but it had a kind of absurd purity as well. It “has a bit more interesting stuff creeping around its edges than a lot of the superhero movies based on established properties,” I wrote in my review for ScreenCrush. The mythology was engrossing, and the action scenes were surprisingly good. If The Accountant had come out 10 years ago, before I had kids and I gave up all my free time forever, I could easy envision a scenario where I watched it over and over on basic cable. It’s the perfect TNT movie.

Here’s Your First Look at Pixar’s Experimental Short ‘Smash and Grab’

Every time Pixar releases another sequel like Monsters University or Cars 3, a hefty portion of fans wring their hands and declare that the studio is past its prime or lost its edge. And there’s probably a certain amount of truth to the idea that Pixar is more about extending franchises than creating new one (although they’ve still pumped out a fair amount of new movies lately, like The Good Dinosaur, Brave, and Inside Out, which might be the best Pixar production ever).

Watch a Supercut of Every Example of Product Placement in Michael Bay’s Movies

If I had to pick the most egregious example of product placement ever, I would nominate the scene from Transformers: Age of Extinction, when the entire movie stops to examine the wreckage of a crash involving an alien spaceship and a Bud Light truck. The camera pans across a street littered with Bud Light bottles; then Mark Wahlberg picks one up, cracks it open, and takes a healthy swig. And while he’s shilling beer, there’s a second product placement in the background; just over his shoulder, very much in focus, is a giant Goodyear Tires sign.

Meet Bad Ape in the Latest ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ Clip

Just because War for the Planet of the Apes is poised to finish up the current Apes trilogy, that doesn’t mean it can’t introduce a few new characters into the mix. We’ve already met Nova, the mute human child that’ll connect this trilogy to the original movies, but there’s another new face joining Caesar’s crew. Bad Ape, portrayed by Steve Zahn, is a similarly altered chimpanzee who learned to talk when the Simian Flu hit and wiped out most of humanity, and he brings news to Caesar’s tribe of an ape zoo that he escaped from.

How Well Do You Know ‘Interstellar’?

If you’re a Christopher Nolan fan, you’ve seen Interstellar. (You’ve possibly seen it 100 times.) But did you know that before Nolan signed on to make the movie, Interstellar was almost a Steven Spielberg movie? It’s true; Spielberg was attached to direct it in 2006. He brought in Nolan’s brother Jonathan to develop the script, and after Spielberg left the project, Jonathan suggested his brother replace him. That’s just one of the stellar facts featured in the latest episode of You Think You Know Movies!
