Bull Rider Injured and Dies At National Western Stock Show In Denver

Mason Lowe, the 18th ranked bull rider in the world suffered injuries last night at Denver's National Western Stock Show and died from those injuries.

Lowe of Exeter, Missouri had been riding professionally for seven years. He recently finished second at an event in Nebraska and had won nearly $10,000 so far this season. He won his first belt buckle in Pueblo at the Ty Murray Invitational.

Lowe was apparently bucked off of the bull, who then stepped on his chest. Lowe had been competing in an event called "Chute Out" where riders stay on an out of control bull for as long as they are able. Normal bull riding is an eight-second ride.

The National Western Stock Show is a yearly event held in Denver and includes bull riding, along with other western style events. The very first Stock Show was held in 1906. It will run through January 27.
