The Colorado Department of Transportation began a project in Debeque that will last throughout the summer.

The project is to repair and perform maintenance on the westbound bridge on I-70 and will be done in three parts.

Part one, which began Monday involves preparing both the eastbound and westbound lanes to one lane. This will allow for the closure of the westbound lanes so that work can commence.

Part two will involve detouring westbound traffic to the eastbound lanes in order to begin the work on the bridge. This should take place around the 2nd week of April and will be performed between mile markers 56-69.

The final phase, taking place in early August will move traffic to a single lane in both directions so that crews can pave and strip the westbound lanes as well as add signs.

CDOT anticipates this project completing mid to late August and will impact traffic throughout the summer.
