The body of a Craig man reported missing a week ago has been found near Lands End Road.

Scott Burke, 43, told family on September 23 he was going camping either in the north desert or in an area west of DeBeque and would return home on Saturday (September 24). When Burke failed to return, he was reported missing to Mesa County authorities.

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office along with other agencies, volunteers and family searched the areas where Burke was believed to have been camping, but suspended the search three days later after failing to locate either Burke or his vehicle.

Sheriff's Deputies were notified Friday (September 30) and responded to a report of a deceased male and a vehicle matching the description of Burke's Ford Bronco approximately three miles west of Lands End Road on BLM Land.

The Mesa County Coroner confirmed the body found as that of Burke yesterday (October 1). The coroner's office says the cause and manner of death won't be determined until toxicology reports are complete.

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office is continuing their investigation in an attempt to confirm the circumstances of Burke's death.
