During their tour a few years ago, you got the impression, because of all the fun they were having, that Elton John and Billy Joel might consider working together again especially since acts like Fleetwood Mac and Bob Seger are touring this year. But an interview revealed something's not right between the two iconic "piano men".According to ABC News, in an interview with 'Rolling Stone', Billy Joel said, "We haven't spoken and I don't know why. Elton doesn't really know me that well. We toured for 16 years and never really hung out. Elton assumes a lot about me that he doesn't really know".

What Billy assumes Elton doesn't really know may have come from an interview Elton John did with Rolling Stone where he told them Billy stopped making music out of "fear or laziness" and that he needed to get serious about quitting drinking. Billy responded to the allegation with, "If he thought I was screwing up or doing something bad, I don't know why he just didn't call me... I wasn't as mad as I was dissapointed."

As to why he hasn't released a new pop album in 20 years, Billy told the publication what he told Elton, make fewer records to keep from diluting your legacy. Billy explained, "When it becomes redundant, when it becomes more of a business, a lot of motivation leaves." He also admitted, "I'm not as good as I used to be...my voice has changed. It's lowered."

Billy says he's not very happy with Sony releasing a compilation of his love songs saying, "One of my biggest fears was that they were gonna do that." While Billy isn't too happy with the decision, fans seem to be pleased with the compilation although many have commented they would also like to see some new music from the "Piano Man".
